A ‘Brexit dividend’ to spend on the NHS?

The authors, who are researchers at the UK's Institute for Fiscal Studies, argued that Brexit was likely to mean less money for public services, including the NHS, than otherwise would have been the case. Although the NHS budget might continue to rise in real terms, it was more likely than not that lower economic growth would take away funds that would otherwise have been available for additional spending increases.

It was not surprising that NHS funding had not only been important in recent policy debates, but also played a prominent role in the 2016 referendum campaign.
