EU agencies faulted for not protecting whistleblowers

James Panichi in Politico wrote that EU institutions and agencies faced increasing criticism for failing to protect whistleblowers as a number of recent court decisions and new documents showed officials who reported illegal or unethical behavior could be targeted for retaliation.

The context for the article was partly related to the publication in December 2015 of a report from the European Ombudsman called 'Putting it Right? - How the EU institutions responded to the Ombudsman in 2014'.
