Romanians go to polls in presidential runoff / Iohannis Leaps Ahead to Win Romania Presidency / Iohannis declares war on corruption

Final previews and reports of the results of the 2nd Round of the Presidential Election in Romania, 16 November 2014.

Amid protests about the voting procedure abroad, Klaus Iohannis ended up winning the second round of the presidential election, defeating the pre-election favourite and also Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

On the 17 November 2014 Mr Ponta said he would not resign from his position as head of Romania’s Government and that he was determined to cooperate with the new president-elect.
