5th Eastern Partnership summit, 24 November 2017

Further information:

The meeting includes discussions on the shape of future cooperation between the EU Member States and the six Eastern partner countries, as well as on what was achieved since the fourth EaP summit, held in 2015.

Back in 2015, four areas for cooperation were given priority: economic development, governance and institutions, transport and energy interconnections, mobility. Concrete actions in these areas were identified by the European Commission and European External Action Service (EEAS) and pur forward in a joint staff working document, first presented in December 2016 and revised in June 2017.

Background information:

The EaP was launched in 2009 to promote political association and economic integration between the EU and the six Eastern European partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The fifth summit of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) was held on 24 November 2017.
