Adoption of final report and recommendations of the EMIS committee

The European Parliament's Committee of inquiry into Emission Measurements in the Automotive Sector (EMIS) discussed and voted on 28 February 2017 on the final report and recommendations regarding the car emissions scandal.

The committee called for stricter controls and implementation at EU level. It also argued for the creation of an agency to oversee road transport, but stopped short of blaming the former European Commissioner for Industry for enabling widespread emissions cheating during his time.

The committee's constituent meeting was held in March 2016 and its draft report was published in December 2016.

The final report and non-binding recommentations of the Committee were debated and voted on in the plenary session of the European Parliament on 4 April 2017.
