Police in the Greek capital Athens stopped the far-right Golden Dawn party from handing out free food only to Greeks on the city's main square Syntagma Square on the 2 May 2013.

Golden Dawn, once a fringe movement, is now Greece's fifth-biggest party and is strongly anti-immigrant.

Riot police used tear gas to prevent activists distributing food from a lorry on Syntagma Square, where the country's parliament is located.

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis says a Golden Dawn MP later tried to assault him for banning the gathering.
