Feature looks at the situation in Austria as regards the campaign for the elections to the European Parliament held in May 2014.

Austrian President Heinz Fischer said that a far right candidate, Andreas Moelzer, should withdraw from European elections because of racist comments. Mr Moelzer, the lead candidate for the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) had called the European Union a "conglomerate of Negroes" and said it made Hitler's Third Reich look "informal and liberal".
