Britain regains allure for east European workers

Article reports that the United kingdom appears to be regaining some of its allure among eastern European workers as signs emerge that the country is returning to economic growth.

2008 saw a flood of departures by Poles in particular and a sharp drop in work permit applications from new European Union member states as unemployment soared in the UK, notably in the stricken house-building industry.

However, data released by the Home Office in November 2009 show that the decline in work permits seems to have bottomed out in 2009 and applications are increasing again.
