Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union on 1 December 2020, concerning the promotion of human rights in global supply chains and decent work worldwide.

Further information:

The Council asks the European Commission to launch an Action Plan focusing shaping global supply chains sustainably, promoting human rights, social and environmental due diligence standards and transparency. It also requests an update to the 2006 Communication on promoting decent work for all.

These conclusions urge EU Member States to step up their efforts in effectively implement theĀ UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. They recall that the crisis caused by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic worsened the situation of parts of the workforce in the global supply chains and led to a decline in working hours and losses in labour income.
