Council Decision (CFSP) 2020/1136 amending Decision (CFSP) 2016/849 concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Decision (CFSP) 2020/1136 adopted by the Council of the European Union on 30 July 2020, introducing a number of amendments to Decision (CSFP) 2016/849 concerning sanctions against Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Decision (CSFP) 2016/849 introduced a number of restrictive measures against North Korea. Following a review of the lists of designated persons and entities set out in Annexes of that Decision, the Council concluded that the sanctions should be maintained, that the statement of reasons for nineteen persons and the identifying information of five persons and two entities should be updated and that the gender of all natural persons should be included in the identifying information.

The Decision extends for a further year until the next annual review. The restrictive measures include a travel ban and asset freeze and apply to 57 listed individuals and 9 listed entities for contribution to the DPRK's nuclear-related, ballistic-missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes or for sanctions evasion.
