Economy and environment: shaping the development of European agricultural law

There has been a great deal of speculation about the effect of the foot and mouth crisis upon the future of agriculture within the United Kingdom. However, in relation to the potential effect of the current crisis on agricultural law, it should be remembered that the United Kingdom's agricultural law is largely governed by the European Community's Common Agricultural Policy (the CAP). This article seeks to examine the legal structure of the CAP.
