Abstract:

This book represents a comprehensive handbook to Danish law on the environment. It is organised in five parts following a substantial introduction which includes general background information on Denmark.

Part one deals with pollution control, looking at the laws relating to pollution of air and water, waste, soil pollution, noise, radiation and vibration, and other issues such as noxious substances. Part two, which covers nature conservation and management, includes chapters on monuments and landscapes, parks and preserves, wildlife protection, agricultural resources, forests, fish resources, subsoil and minerals, and dunes. Part three concerns zoning and land use planning, with chapters devoted to national, regional and local planning, urban and rural zoning, and appeals. The fourth part addresses liability questions, while part five deals with administrative and juridical remedies.

The work will interest scholars, students, policy researchers and policy makers in the fields of environmental control and regulation.

Ellen Margrethe Basse is Professor in Environmental Law at the University of Aarhus.
