Overview and information relating to the Finnish presidency of the Council of the European Union, running from 1 July to 31 December 2019.
Finland took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2019. This was the third occasion since its accession to the European Union. The motto of the Finnish Presidency is 'Sustainable Europe - Sustainable Future'.
The presidency programme focuses on four main priorities:
The priorities of the rotating presidency were discussed in several sectoral meetings of the Council of the European Union as well as by the plenary of the European Parliament. Ministers also outlined the priorities of the Finnish Presidency to parliamentary committees, in a series of meetings.
