Summary:

Over the next couple of days, Governments will gather in Hamburg for the G20-summit with “Building Resilience” as a top priority. But what precisely does the concept of resilience imply? The newest issue of our “Inclusive Growth for Germany” series sheds some light on the resilience matter.

The paper, entitled “Economic resilience – A new concept for policy making?” addresses the origin of the term resilience, illustrates its various usages in different disciplines, and translates it into a concept for social and economic policy.

The Bertelsmann Stiftung will continue to look at the resilience concept within the framework of its “Inclusive Growth for Germany” project. A comprehensive study is scheduled to appear later this year.
