This study is about the integration into the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)of the ten New Member States (NMS) which joined the European Union in 2004. In particular, the study analyses the effects of the main CAP instruments (direct payments, market measures and Rural Development measures) on the modernisation and competitiveness of agriculture in the NMS.
