Justice and Home Affairs Council, 9-10 June 2016

Summary:

A meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council was held on 9 and 10 June 2016. The agenda includes the following items:

• Adoption of general approach concerning a proposed Directive on control of the acquisition and possession of weapons;
• Endorsement of roadmap aimed at enhancing information exchange and information management, including interoperability solution in the JHA area;
• Discussion on the situation concerning migration in the Central Mediterranean region and on the implementation of the EU-Turkey Statement;
• Debate on visa policy, in the light of proposals from the European Commission on visa liberalisation;
• Adoption of Decision establishing enhanced cooperation relating to rules applicable to property regimes for married couples or registered partners in cross-border situations;
• Adoption of two sets of conclusions relating to measures and a timeline for further action to improve cooperation in the fight against criminal activities in cyberspace;
• Information on state of play of discussions regarding a European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
