Left looks to Hollande to challenge Sarkozy

Article reports that François Hollande, the genial former leader of the Socialist party, was emerging as the left’s best hope to challenge right-of-centre President Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 presidential election in France.

France’s Socialist party leadership was due to meet on the 17 May 2011 to discuss the consequences party heavyweight and IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was arrested on charges of attempted rape in New York, which he denies.
