Luxembourg general election, 14 October 2018

Summary:

Luxembourg held a parliamentary election on 14 October 2018 to elect members of the Chamber of Deputies.

The Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) gained most votes, but at the same time lost two seats. The second largest party the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP/POSL) lost three seats. The Democratic Party (DP) lost one seat. The Greens did considerably better in the election by gaining three seats in the election. The election also welcomed a new party in the Parliament; as the Pirate Party got two seats.

In order to reach a majority, a party needs to get thirty-one seats of the sixty in the Chamber of Deputies.

The election results allow for both a renewed coalition between the DP, the LSAP and the Greens or an entirely new government.
