A deal with the Council of the European Union on five legislative acts reforming EU farm policy was endorsed by Parliament on 20 November 2013. The post-2013 Common agricultural policy (CAP) will put more emphasis on environmental protection, ensure fairer distribution of EU funds and help farmers to cope better with market challenges.
Commissioner Dacian Cioloş welcomed the European Parliament's vote on the reform of the Common Agriculture Policy and called it an important day for European farmers, but also for all EU citizens concerned about the quality of their food and the sustainability of agricultural production methods.
