News Story: EU Referendum Bill receives Royal Assent

The EU Referendum Bill received Royal Assent on 17 December 2015. It is now an Act of Parliament.

The legislation was now in place for the referendum to take place before the end of 2017. This was a significant step towards settling the debate about the UK’s membership of the European Union, delivering on a key manifesto pledge by the UK Government.
