Legislative proposal published by the European Commission on 30 May 2018 setting up the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) for the period 2021-2027.
This programme aims to reflect calls to strengthen the European Union's social dimension. It is intended to be the main instrument to invest in people and to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR). The proposed ESF+ Regulation is the result of a merger of the existing European Social Fund (ESF), the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI), the Fund for European Aid to the most Deprived (FEAD), the Employment and Social Innovation Programme (EaSI) and the EU Health Programme.
This proposal was put forward in the framework of the discussions and initiatives on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period 2021-2027. The European Parliament approved its negotiating position on this draft law on 16 January 2019.
