Report presented on 28 May 2019 by the European Commission on the management of the EFSI Guarantee Fund during 2018.

This annual report contains the presentation of the financial position of the EFSI Guarantee Fund at the end of 2018, the financial flows during the year as well as the significant transactions and any relevant information on the financial accounts. The report also includes information about the financial management, the performance and the risk of the Fund at the end of the financial year.

The accompanying Staff Working Document (SWD) provides further information and tables on operations under the Infrastructure and Innovation Window and SME Window (signatures and disbursed amounts, breakdown by sector and country), financial statements, provisioning of the Fund and asset management.

Background:

The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) was set up with the aim of kick-starting investments in the European Union through the mobilisation of private finance. The agreement on the management of the EFSI and on the granting of the EU Guarantee was signed by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank in July 2015.
