Space for everyone

Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union on 26 November 2021, on strengthening links between the space and non-space sectors.

The conclusions highlight that capacities in the space sector are unevenly distributed across the European Union (EU). The Council stress the equitable participation in space projects by different stakeholders in all Member States, and the need to include start-ups, SMEs and mid-caps in the European space system. The space sector is also seen as relevant in the development of technology necessary for the EU's cybersecurity.

The Council invites the European Commission, the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and member states to strengthen links between the space and non-space sectors. Minsters also call on the Commission and EUSPA to intensify cooperation with Member States and to support solutions to foster the development of space ecosystems through existing programmes and to enhance synergies with other EU programmes.
