The Commission has given German electricity giant E.ON a 14 March deadline to sell its stake in utility Bewag.

The sale was a key condition of the merger last year between German utilities Veba and Viag to create E.ON. The Commission wants to ensure there are competitors to E.ON and RWE, the country's other main electricity producer.
