Reports and analysis of the reactions within the EU Institutions and Member States to the result of the referendum on the 23 June 2016 in the United Kingdom on its future within the EU.

The first formal discussions on the implications of the referendum decision for the UK to leave the EU would take place at the European Council, Brussels, 28-29 June 2016. However, despite calls by some EU leaders, it was not expected that the UK would invoke the Article 50 procedure at the meeting, partly due to the political turmoil in the UK itself as a result of the referendum result.
