Summary:
EU Ministers responsible for matters relating to Home Affairs held a videoconference on 5 June 2020. The agenda included the following items:
- Discussion on the response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in the field of internal border controls and the free movement of persons;
- Discussion on EU travel restrictions with regard to the entry of third country nationals;
- Briefing on the operational results of the 2019 EU policy cycle to fight organised crime (EMPACT), based on a Presidency Note;
- Update on the state of play on a number of legislative initiatives;
- Update from Maltese representatives on the migration situation in the Central Mediterranean and the challenges facing the country;
- Briefing on the EU-US Justice and Home Affairs ministerial videoconference held on 28 May;
- Presentation on the priorities of the forthcoming German Council Presidency in relevant areas of action;
- Update from the European Commission on writing of the implementation of the interoperability regulations.
