25 million Euro for a programme of support for reconstruction of El Salvador

On the 18 September 2001, the European Commission adopted the financing decision relating to a programme of support for the reconstruction of El Salvador worth €32 million which would be implemented from November 2001.

The Commission's contribution would be €25 million and El Salvador would contribute €7 million. This major programme would benefit around 200 000 people, most living in extreme poverty in the departments worst hit by the earthquakes of January and February of this year.
