In response to the European Parliament’s resolution of November 2013 the European Court of Auditors analysed the potential savings to the EU budget if the Parliament centralised its operations in Brussels.

It published the results of its analysis in July 2014. The Court’s analysis focused on two core scenarios:

(a) Moving only from Strasbourg to Brussels, with no change in Luxembourg; and
(b) in addition, moving from Luxembourg to Brussels.

The Court found that moving from Strasbourg to Brussels could generate significant savings and that moving from Luxembourg to Brussels could add marginally to these savings.
