The FT reported that following a meeting of their Defence Ministers on the 24 July 2012 France and the United Kingdom said they would open up their bilateral defence partnership to develop critical and costly military equipment to other European countries, a move analysts said risked derailing the pact whose main aim was to cut costs and delays by keeping the number of players to two.
