Ashton to host global conference on north Africa

EUObserver reported that Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was to hold a high-level international conference in Brussels in February 2011 aiming to develop a global response to the recent upheaval in north Africa and the Middle East.

She would invite senior officials from the United States, Japan, international financial institutions including the World Bank, as well as from the region itself, to develop a co-ordinated global response to the historic changes in the region.
