Assassination of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey, Andrei Karlov

Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, was shot dead at an art exhibition in the Turkish capital of Ankara on the 19 December 2016.

High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini said in response: 'The European Union condemns in the strongest possible manner this attack against your country's representative in Turkey. We wish to express our solidarity with Russia in the face of this criminal act of violence'.
