Baltic Sea: Commission confirms sustainability of herring stocks and proposes increased fishing opportunities for 2015

The European Commission released on 3 September 2014 its proposal on fishing opportunities for the main commercial fish stocks in the Baltic Sea for 2015, under the reformed Common Fisheries Policy.

The draft law increased the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) by 12% when compared to the previous year, setting the total at approximately 629,000 tonnes.
