Speaking at a meeting of the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee in Brussels on the 4 May 2010, Michel Barnier, EU Internal Market Commissioner said he would look at establishing a new European credit rating agency, as he expressed concern and frustration over the way in which Greek debt had been dealt with by some existing agencies in the recent past.
