Belgian federal election, 2014

Regional and federal elections took place in Belgium on the 25 May 2014 on the same day that the European Parliament elections took place in the country.

Following the elections King Filip / Philippe appointed N-VA leader Bart De Wever as 'informateur'. His task was to find out 'under which conditions a new federal coalition government can be formed without delay'.

As in the past political leaders found it difficult to put together a viable government in Belgium taking into account the linguistic and cultural divide in the country.
