Radovan Karadzic, the wartime leader of the Bosnian Serbs (formally the former President of Republika Srpska, head of the Serbian Democratic Party and Supreme Commander of the Bosnian Serb Army (VRS)) wanted for genocide and crimes against humanity, was arrested on 21 July 2008 after more than a decade on the run from international justice.
