Catalonia President calls EU leaders to support independence referendum

News sources reported in January 2014 that Catalonia's President Artur Mas had called on European Union and other world leaders for support as Catalonia sought a vote on independence from Spain in November 2014. The issue had become a source of an increasingly bitter fight with Spain's central government.
