The European Parliament's civil liberties committee approved on 26 September 2016 the plans to waive visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens entering the Schengen area.

If approved in plenary session and by the Council of the European Union, Ukrainians who have a biometric passport would be allowed to enter the European Union without a visa for 90 days for business, tourist or family purposes.
