Communication on ‘Adapting the common visa policy to new challenges’

The Communication presents the main aspects of a proposal put forward in parallel which amends the Visa Code and sets out objectives addressed in the amendments to the Visa Information System (VIS), published at a later stage.

+ Proposal for a Regulation amending Regulation establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code) [COM(2018)252]

The Communication also looks ahead by examining how to ensure better synergies between EU visa policy and EU external relations and by launching a debate on the digitalisation of visa processing.

The European Commission published on 14 March 2018 a Communication on the way for the European Union's visa policy.
