Communication on ‘Protection of air passengers in the European Union’

Summary:

The European Commission published on 21 June 2000 a Communication setting out an overall policy on protecting the rights of air passengers, following a consultation on the difficulties experienced by these customers and possible solutions to the problems identified.

The general policy was based not only on the existing legislation on passengers' rights but also on voluntary commitments by the air transport sector to improve service quality.
