Communication on the state of play of the Common Fisheries Policy and consultation on the fishing opportunities for 2019

This Communication gives an overview of the state of play of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). It presents progress towards the fishing mortality that produces the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), changes in the state of stocks, efforts to reverse the situation in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, the state of the EU fleet, progress in terms of governance, the phasing-in of the landing obligation and the external dimension of the CFP.

It also sets out the principles intended to underpin the Commission proposals on fishing opportunities for 2019. Member States, Advisory Councils, other stakeholders and the public can provide suggestions on these policy directions.
