Council gives go-ahead for EU talks with US to extend air transport lease arrangements

On 11 May 2017, the Council of the European Union gave the Commission the go-ahead to negotiate a clarification to the EU - United States air transport agreement in the hope of increasing flexibility for aircraft operators and bringing wider choice and lower prices for customers. The new agreement will clarify the relevant provisions in the March 2007 agreement. The negotiations with the US will be conducted by the Commission.
