Economic and Financial Affairs Council, 27 January 2017

A meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council was held on 27 January 2017. The agenda includes the following topics:

+ Presentation of the work programme of Malta's presidency of the Council of the European Union;

+ Adoption of conclusions on the Annual Growth Survey for 2017, which marks the launch of the 2017 European Semester, and on the alert mechanism report which is the basis for the macroeconomic imbalances procedure in 2017;

+ Endorsement of a draft recommendation for the economic policy of the Eurozone;

+ Presentation by the European Commission on its proposal on VAT reverse charge mechanism;

+ Briefing by the Commission on progress made in discussions on the banking reform in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision;

+ Presentation and exchange of views on the final report prepared by the High-Lebel Group on Own Resources;

+ Other topics: Extension of assets freeze on Tunisian individuals.
