Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council, 21-22 November 2016

A meeting of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council was held in Brussels on 21-22 November 2016. The agenda included the following items:

+ Conclusions on promoting new approaches in youth work;

+ Exchange of views on how to reconnect young people with the European project, as a follow-up to the debates at an informal summit of EU leaders held in September;

+ Adoption of a resolution on a New Skills Agenda, in response to a Communication from the European Commission on strategic skills;

+ Agreement on a recommendation on New Opportunities for Adults, in the framework of the Commission's proposed Skills Guarantee;

+ Adoption of conclusions on the prevention of radicalisation leading to violent extremism;

+ Discussion on the state of play regarding the draft proposal on audiovisual media services (AVMSD);

+ Adoption of a general approach on a decision establishing a European year of cultural heritage;

+ Agreement on a decision regarding the European Capitals of Culture for the years 2020 to 2033;

+ Conclusions on sport diplomacy.
