Emmanuel Macron announces French presidential bid

Emmanuel Macron announced on 16 November 2016 his bid for the French presidency.

The move was long-awaited since his resignation as economy minister in August 2016 and the creation of his own political movement En Marche. Analysts considered the decision could potentially disrupt other campaigns from both the left and right due to his centrist standings.
