Enrico Letta set to become Italy’s new prime minister

Italy took an important step to ending months of deadlock on the 24 April 2013 with the nomination as prime minister of Enrico Letta, a veteran centre-left politician who lost no time in calling for an easing of the austerity policies favoured by Berlin and Brussels.
