Environment Council, 6 March 2015

A meeting of the Environment Council was held on 6 March 2016. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Discussion on the preparations for the UN climate change conference being held in Paris in December 2016. As part of these preparations, the Council adopted the submission on the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) of the EU and its member states;

+ Discussion on the climate change issues of the Energy Union, focusing on decarbonisation of the economy;

+ Discussion of the environment related aspects of the Annual Growth Survey;

+ Assessment of the latest developments in the negotiations on the UN post-2015 development agenda;

+ Adoption of a decision concerning the accession of the European Union to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
