Environment MEPs support Paris agreement ratification, push for entry into force

The European Parliament's environment committee endorsed on 8 September 2016 the ratification of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Members of the committee urged member states to conclude the ratification process, to ensure its rapid entry into force. The parliament could only vote and give its consent to the Paris Agreement in plenary when an agreement is reached at the Council of the European Union.
