EUObserver reported that the European Commission endorsed on the 16 January 2015 national plans from a number of EU Member States to seize travel documents of suspected jihadists. The objective was to prevent EU nationals from travelling to Syria or Iraq to fight or train alongside Islamic militants, and then maybe return radicalised to Europe to carry out terrorist activities.

The EUObserver features highlights initiatives in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark.
