EU-LAC Foundation: constitutive agreement signed

On the 25 October 2016, The European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) signed an agreement establishing the European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean Foundation, the EU-LAC Foundation, as an international organisation in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The EU-LAC Foundation brought together the European Union and its 28 member states and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and its 33 member states with the following objectives:
- encouraging further mutual knowledge and understanding between both regions;
- enhancing the mutual visibility between both regions, as well as of the bi-regional partnership itself.

In the margins of EU-CELAC Foreign Ministers' meeting, Federica Mogherini met with the Cariforum Ministers, as well as with the Pacific Alliance representatives.
