EU membership is in UK’s national interest – CBI

Preview and reports of a speech by Sir Mike Rake, the president of the Confederation of British Industry at the groups annual dinner on the 20 May 2015.

He said that firms 'must be crystal clear that membership (of the EU) is in our national interest'. He urged businesses to make stronger and clearer case for Europe as isolation fears grew.

The views of UK business and industry to whether the UK should stay in the EU or leave was seen as a crucial element of the forthcoming Brexit referendum campaign.
